mySmart Hotel attends Hotel Investment Conference Asia Pacific (HICAP)
19 Oct 2009
The Hotel Investment Conference Asia Pacific is Asia’s most prominent and
longest running hotel investment conference celebrated its 20th anniversary this
year.
The conference, which ran from 14th to the 16th October 2009 was hosted at the InterContinental
Hong Kong. As the premier gathering of the hotel investment community in the Asia
Pacific region for the last two decades, HICAP brings strategic insights
to investors, financiers, developers and leading industry professionals about the
opportunities in the region. This year HICAP attracted nearly 800 high level
executives from around the globe. mySmart Hotel has benefitted enormously through
it’s involvement at HICAP, capitalizing on the benefits of rubbing shoulder with
key hospitality stakeholders from the region, in fact around the world.
HICAP is designed to provide the Asia Pacific hotel investment community
a great opportunity to stay informed, to stay ahead of the curve and to keep in
touch with key industry leaders.
Panelists included the likes of:
- Paul Brown, President, Global Brands and Shared Services, Hilton Hotels Corporation
- Eric Danziger, President and CEO, Wyndham Hotel Group
- Steve Haggerty, Global Head-Real Estate and Development, Hyatt Hotels Corporation
- Frits van Paasschen, President and CEO Starwood Hotels and Resorts to name but a
few.
Over the three days some 18 Plenary Sessions and Special Interest forums were conducted.
The days commenced at 8:30am and concluded with a Gala Networking Reception each
night; long days with lots to take in.
Of special interest to mySmart Hotel were the sustainability related workshops and
presentations. Globally, sustainability within Hotels is a hot topic and a number
of hotels and operators are scrambling to identify what the best solution is for
them. In Australia mySmart has position itself as a leader in Hotel Sustainability
Solutions (HSS) through the implementation of mySmart Hotel’s energy collation and
reporting solution
enGauge and the internationally renowned room
management system Inncom. Through contact with many, many delegates, it’s apparent that were in the
RIGHT SPACE of HSS. An interesting comment that was made during the conference to
me personally, is that Australia is perceived as the leader in the region for HSS.
